    Curse?
My roommate got back on Tuesday from Mason City, Iowa.

That's the part of the world where Buddy Holly's plane went down. While up there, doing "chores" from his deceased grandfather, who gave him specific tasks to do to keep the Frank Lloyd Wright designed house his grandmother lives in up to standard, his cousin called him, and took him to see something. It seems that Buddy Holly's glasses are still up there in private hands. My roommate put them on and walked around with them on for a bit.

On Tuesday, my roommate left Mason City on a Northwest commuter flight in a small turboprop plane. Right out of the airport something went wrong, and one of the engines started spewing black smoke. The plane went into a spiral, and the pilot initated a counterspiral to correct it, bringing the falling plane down about a half a mile from the runway, one wing shattered. Northwest got them on another flight, comped free drinks for the entire trip, and refunded their tickets.

Kinda odd, that. You can bet I'm never putting on those glasses.

Who do you care about most in your life?

    View other answers

This question has a simple answer. There are lots of people in my life that I care about, but the one I care about most is the love of my life.

    I love you Wolf.

    Has anyone ordered from them?

I found them through mypoints.com. They have free shipping and I would earn points for each purchase.

They seem to have great deals like this Smashbox set for 50% off retail:

I got a letter in the mail warning me that my personal data may be comprimised.
I got a letter from BNY Mellon saying that my personal data was on some tapes that are now missing. It could include my name, SS# address, etc. I did a little research online to make sure this is real, and it is.

    http://www.bnymellon.com/tapequery/faqs.html

There is no proof at this time that any of the information has been miss-used, but they are warning me just in case. Having been a ChoicePoint employee at the time of our data breech I know how this goes.

I'm on hold with BNY now asking how they got my info in the first place because I don't know who they are. I've never had an account with them. Apparently ViewPoint Bank, my car loan, is how they got my info. ViewPoint used to be a credit union so I had shares in it, but then it changed to a bank and this company was somehow involved. The CSR who answered my call only has access to some basic info. I want a copy of any info they have on me and so she transferred me to a different group.

I don't like vagueness, they say it can include all this info and I just want to know exactly what they have. *sigh*

They tell me it will include my name, SS#, address, telephone # and ViewPoint Bank account number. Dang it. Good thing I don't actually store any money in that account. Guess I just need to keep an eye on it and my credit report to make sure I'm not adversly affected.

    Sunday Adoptions Report!
I can't believe I forgot to post this earlier!

Sunday was a tiring day. We had LOTS of people in PetSmart looking at the kitties. We adopted out one kitten and 3 adults! One of the adults was one of the kitties I had spoken on here about before, Caramia. She went to a home with two little girls, a dad who wanted a cat and a mom who's a little afraid of cats. I think it's the perfect home for her because she's so calm and loving (she'll be relaxing for the mom) and still a little playful (good for the girls).

Today I'd like to feature a longtime resident of our shelter, Sweet Caroline. She's a big kitty cat, that loves to lounge around all day. She's extra special because she has a short stubby tail that's really cute. Her tortie colorings make her a beautiful accessory to any piece of furniture and she'd look lovely against bright colors like red or purple. *wink* She's not all about lounging. She will happily bat at the feathers on a stick toy for a little while and enjoys being petted too. If you're looking for a low maintenance cat, she's the girl for you!

    TV ramblings...
    Army Wives
    Lifetime - Sunday 10pm ET/PT

If you're not watching this you're really missing out. I absolutely loved the first season and squeed majorly when I heard the next one started a few weeks ago. I DVR it on Sunday night so I can watch it Monday evening (Tonight!) so if you watched it last night don't spoil it for me. It's all about the lives of the wives of men serving in the military, with one exception, one is actually a man (Roland) who's wife is the one in the military. Roland's viewpoint on things is very intersting to me because he is definately in the minority.

So You Think You Can Dance
    Fox - Wednesday & Thursday nights (performance/results)

I didn't watch season one, watched a little of season two, got addicted to season three and I'm now really enjoying season 4. There are some wonderful amazing dancers on this show. They got rid of the only dancer who I thought shouldn't have made it to the top 20 (The Miami "salsa" dancer.) and so now it's really hard for me to watch Thursday's results shows. I love Twitch and Kherington, and Joshua and Katee. Yes, I know everyone but Joshua has a stupid name, but I guess performers are allowed a little oddity, right? If you didn't know this about me here's a little info. When I was in High School I did Hip Hop dance (think Janet Jackson) for a couple semesters. I would have LOVED to do more, but we moved to TX *sigh*. I also did Synchronized swimming which is basically dance in the water. A few years ago I even did Bellydance and while our troop was in no way what anyone would call "professional" I really enjoyed the dance. It is inspiring to me to watch how these people can contort their bodies to the rythm and hoe very different each move can be from super smooth to angular and robotic.

    Hell's Kitchen
    Fox - Tuesday nights 9/8C

This week is the season finale! I'm very happy with the Final 2. I think Christina will win. She's a talented chef and knows how to be a great team player. I think it takes that knowledge to be a leader of a team. I've been addicted to Gordon Ramsey since I first saw him on Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares on BBC. I love that show, I love his other BBC show "The F Word", I loved the US version of Kitchen Nightmares and as I said I've watched every Hell's Kitchen episode and can't wait for next season. It's so interesting to see how he makes fine dining happen. I wish I could eat in one of his restaurants.

One less moron in the world.
"The gate which actually leads into the immediate area of the ride was secured, it was locked. So, not only did they have to jump over the perimeter fence but they had to jump over the fence immediately surrounding the ride," said Sergeant Dana Pierce.

Chicken in a mushroom cream sauce

Last night, I fixed this chicken dish for dinner. I came up with the recipe myself, and thought I would share it.

    Ingredients:
    2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
    3 tbsp. olive oil
4 cloves of garlic crushed and finely diced
1 cup of hard cider (I used Woodchuck’s Dry Cider)
    1 package of mushrooms, sliced
1 package of Hunter’s gravy mix
    1/2 pint of heavy cream

    1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet and sautee the garlic in the oil for 2-3 minutes. This will infuse the oil with the garlic flavor.
    2. Salt and pepper the chcicken, then cook in the pan over medium heat. Preheat oven to 175 (or it’s lowest setting).
    3. When the chicken is cooked, place in the oven and turn it off.
    4. De-glaze the skillet with the cider and add the mushrooms. Cook this mixture until reduced to a consistency almost the same as syrup.
    5. Follow the directions on the hunter’s gravy mix. But, prepare it in the skillet with the sauce that is already there.
    6. When the sauce in the pan is ready, stir in the heavy cream. Heat this mixture until it is thoroughly mixed heated.

Serving suggestion: I served this by placing a chicken breast on a bed of egg noodles. I then covered the breast and noodles with the sauce.

    What a True Conservative Believes

    From Glenn Beck:

A conservative believes that our inalienable rights do not include housing, healthcare or Hummers.

A conservative believes that our inalienable rights DO include the pursuit of happiness. That means it is guaranteed to no one.

A conservative believes that those who pursue happiness and find it have a right to not be penalized for that success.

A conservative believes that there are no protections against the hardship and heartache of failure. We believe that the right to fail is just as important as the chance to succeed and that those who do fail learn essential lessons that will help them the next time around.

A conservative believes in personal responsibility and accepts the consequences for his or her words and actions.

A conservative believes that real compassion can’t be found in any government program.

A conservative believes that each of us has a duty to take care of our neighbors. It was private individuals, companies and congregations that sent water, blankets and supplies to New Orleans far before the government ever set foot there.

A conservative believes that family is the cornerstone of our society and that people have a right to manage their family any way they see fit, so long as it’s not criminal. We are far more attuned to our family’s needs than some faceless, soulless government program.

A conservative believes that people have a right to worship the God of their understanding. We also believe that people do not have the right to jam their version of God (or no God) down anybody else’s throat.

A conservative believes that people go to the movies to be entertained and to church to be preached to, not the other way around.

A conservative believes that debt creates unhealthy relationships. Everyone, from the government on down, should live within their means and strive for financial independence.

A conservative believes that a child’s education is the responsibility of the parents, not the government.

A conservative believes that every human being has a right to life.

A conservative believes in the smallest government you can get without anarchy. We know our history: The larger a government gets, the harder it will fall.

Upcoming trip to FL, and other ramblings...
The plan for our trip to St. Petersburg, FL is slowly coming together. We're getting the hotel lined up for the Saturday night there, and looking at possible hotels along the roads we'll travel on our way there and back. It's almost an 8 hour drive so we plan to stay somewhere along the way as we won't be able to ride the motorcycle for that long in one stretch and ever walk again. :)
