U.S. Intelligence Fell Down On the Job, Again
Terrorist's father tried to warn the USA about his son.

The terror suspect who tried to blow up a Detroit-bound plane is the son of a Nigerian banker who alerted U.S. authorities to his "extreme religious views" months ago, it was reported Saturday.

The father, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, a former minister and chairman of First Bank in Nigeria, is shocked that his son was even was allowed to fly to the U.S., family members told the Nigerian newspaper This Day.

This guy was on terrorist watch lists and his family had tried to warn the USA. Why wasn't he on the frackin' no-fly list?!

It’s A Good Thing Our Enemies Are Incompetent

Terrorist Tried to blow Up Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Detroit – The authorities are saying that this was a a fairly sophisticated device. It is a good thing that the idiot set himself on fire rather than blowing up the plane. Passengers and the cabin crew subdued and confined him until the plane landed. He claims to have obtained the device and instructions on how to use it in Yemen.

It is a good thing that terrorists are not as intelligent and creative as my friends. If they did, we would have already experienced other attacks. But, maybe their leadership has realized that such attacks would not be good for them. Another successful attack in the USA, at the minimum, would result in the current administration either toughening its stance toward them or losing power.

    Xmas/Yule
Had a wonderful time with family, my oldest boy is engaged to be married next year...asked me to officiate the wedding, I am excited. I am member or Relay for Life Team, walk is June 11 & 12, 2010. Working on raising funds for that. Starting new project for next xmas with husband, he has a dream of taking toys to kids (delivered by santa) on a trailer pulled on the rails by a motor car (old maintenance of way car). Any one have ideas on how to get donations to for either charity, I would appreciate it.

I am half way into my gourmet cooking and catering classes, holding b average. Ginger finished her first semester of college, Merlin still at McDonald's, Don gets married then off to Afghanistan next year. I am still working for McKesson doing medical billing, also still selling Avon.

Hope all has a very Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

    Lies
There are four classic lies. The first three are well known -- "The check's in the mail, ""I'm from the government and I'm here to help you," and "I promise I won't come in your mouth." But the fourth one is far less commonly known as a lie, and it is both often false and also deceptive.

That lie is the three simple words, "I love you."

Let's start with the obvious. Guys and women have very different meanings for these terms much of the time. They have different depths, and also often different reasons why they're said.

But there are so much more meanings than just that dichotomy. Such things can be things like "I love you because of how you make me feel," "I love being in love with you," or "I love feeling this way." And though the person may think they're being selfless and caring for the other person, all three of these are actually selfish meanings. So is the more mental "I love you because of what you mean to me," and "I love you because of what you represent," along with "I love you because of what you do and say." These are a far cry below the higher spiritual love of "I love you because of your uniqueness," or the even more pure expression of , "I love you because you exist." But these are so rare as to be unknown to almost all people.

And then there's the other side of the coin, when "I love you" has no meaning and is used only to get one's way. This is "I love you" as a weapon, possibly the lowest perversion of the phrase, but all too common. Abusers use it when they're trying to excuse the pain they just caused, manipulators use it to get what they want, and co-dependents use it to get feelings of self worth.

Now I hear all of you who are in love with someone right now saying that I don't get it. You're likely right, in multiple senses of the word. I won't say I envy you, as I don't know at this point if I could trust the words if they were said to me after what I've gone through, but it's probably hard for you to empathize with someone who is unwanted and unloved in the way that makes someone feel like they're something more than just another meat puppet walking the Earth. And I don't wish that empathy on you in any case, because it is a very lonely and cold feeling, one that feels like warmth itself is impossible and that this coldness inside the soul is the only state that can be known.

If you have someone who says those three words to you on a regular basis, and if you also feel that you can trust their words beyond all doubt, then I truly hope you're right and their use of the words are forthright and true. Consider yourself lucky, and when you see one of us in the unwanted cadre pass by, try to understand that such feelings are not only strange to us, but bordering on the mythical.

Do you have any holiday traditions that extend all the way back to childhood? How about family recipes? What are they?

Homemade Chex Mix. My Dad used to make it when I was a kid, and so I always crave it around the holidays. This year I bought a cereal called Hex, it's corn and rice chex in 1, pretzel sticks and peanuts. Sometimes we put in wheat chex too, but the store didn't have any. You douse the mixture in melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, and season salt and then toast it up in the oven. It's sooo good.

So Much for the Spirit of the Season
Well, the scant bit of holiday cheer I had up to this point took a major hit yesterday. I now want nothing more than to just hole up here and tell the entire world to bugger off.

I'm starting to feel like I'm going to spend the entire rest of my life as a solo act. And the only feeling I get from such things is that I hope it's a very short run of the show.

Of course, I'll do the thing I should do, go and deal with family for the next two days and then come home and continue packing to move. But I'm quite tired of all of this, and my desire to continue as an alone person was never very strong, and is starting to weaken. I'm not one of those loner types, that's just icky.

Sometimes I think, "Hitler had Ava Braun. Mussolini and Stalin had wives. Evil harpy women manage to get husbands all the time. Abusive redneck jerks get wives and girlfriends. What makes me so much worse than them that I have to spend my life alone?"

With the exception of a couple of brief interludes and the ex who was only dating me for a place to live and someone to help parent, my last relationship was over a decade ago. That's when the ex decided to ask for a divorce.

Yeah, I know, anything can happen in a constantly changing universe. But possibility and probability are two differnt things. And I've heard the platitude that relationships come when you're not looking for one. Been there, honestly done that, nothing happened. And besides, there are a lot of people finding true love according to those obnoxious Eharmony ads, and no one can convince me that someone who signs up for a dating service isn't looking.

Don't worry, I'm not suicidal. I lack the energy to be suicidal at this point. I just want this feeling to go away forever.

The Ending and What it Amounts to...
Just got my grades for my Learning and Cognition class. I earned an A in the lab, and a B in the lecture portion. With an A in my Theory of Counseling class, that means better than a 3.5 in the two classes. (I count the L&C class as a single class because the lab was mandatory)

So this is it. These grades don't really mean much of anything, as a GPA looks good on a resume but doesn't amount to anything outside of the academic world. But at least it's all done. I'm quite glad for this completion, as I want to get somewhere else. And though I'm already thinking of picking up more classes to finish a masters degree and possibly a PhD at some point, I know I need some time off at this point to assess more of what I want to accomplish in all of this.

Now comes navigating the holidays and getting everything packed. We spent time in the studio yesterday and ran into a glitch -- the studio computer got the dreaded Mup.sys error, so it was hosing out after the OS ad screen and locking up. Found out it was the drivers, so deleted all of them and moved forward. Still need to reinstall the drivers to the video so Jaws will work, but I should be able to do that soon. I want this machine working properly so that I can not have that to worry about when setting up the studio after the move.

Plans are still on track for a move to Big D at the end of January. Anyone who can contribute an hour or two in packing boxes will be greatlyly appreciated.

Yeppers. I was working for a small automotive repair shop for a while, and I was in hour 15 of my 10th 19-20 hour day. I was in the middle of pulling the rack and pinion steering system out of a car when the dickhead service manager came up and started saying "When will it be done? How far along are you?" I looked at him and said, "It will be done when I come into your office and go "It's done.", so go away". He told me "You can't talk to me like that!", so I smacked him across the head with a rubber mallet, pushed him to the ground and kicked him in the ribs. Then I pushed my roll-around out to my truck, loaded up and left. As a funny aside, when he tried to press charges, everyone in the shop said he "slipped on the wet shop floor".

I tend to get kinda short-tempered when harassed by know-nothing dickhead shop managers.

I might as well spend my time answering online surveys. Maybe I'll win something! I think I'm already signed up for every reputable company out there. Made $3 yesterday. Got lots of sweepstakes entries. Earned some points towards free stuff too. Plus, it's something to do.

    Dreamy dessert!
Wolf just made the most amazing dessert. He took a bag of frozen sweet cherries, and added Splenda then heated them up into a syrupy goodness and let them cool. Then we took 4oz of light cream cheese and some of the juice from the cherries, and a little extra Splenda then we filled egg roll wrappers with the cream cheese stuff and drained cherries. Covered a baking sheet in cooking spray, plopped the rolls onto the sheet, sprayed them with more cooking spray and baked 'em off. THEY ARE FREAKING DELISH! Cherry Cheesecake Egg Roll thingies. *drool*

Personal email address to use when job hunting.
I have my gmail account, which I love and am thinking about using it to send out resumes and to list on job applications. Is nikkikitty too personal? I have a Yahoo account with my legal name, but I hate yahoo's mail format and so I haven't used it in at least 6 months. Should I get over it and use that more impersonal email addy for my job hunt, or is nikkikitty ok? I also worry about people misspelling my last name, they always try to add an H, and missing emails from prospective employers.

UPDATE: I did it, lastname.firstname@gmail.com it was the best I could get.
